Free Fiction Thursday: Ruined Sacrifice

I started writing this story after touring a Mayan ruin site while on vacation in June 2014. Hearing about the ancient life and climbing an actual pyramid were very inspiring to the story line. Here’s a quick synopsis:

Go into the jungle, they said …

Climb an ancient pyramid, they said …

It’ll be fun … they said.

Newlyweds Alison and James take a trip of a lifetime to visit an ancient ruins site. Their trek leads them deep into a primeval forest where the only clear direction they can see is up. They hear about several interesting structures that are off limits but are close enough to tempt their fate. With the typical tourist excursion only whetting their appetite, the thrill of archaeology becomes too great and they quickly wander off on a self-guided tour … only to discover that they’re not alone. Deep in the jungle, they soon realize that the ancient past has a dangerous habit of bounding back to life!

This short story is offered free on this website for one week only. It’s also available in ebook here.
